I know it is Badwater season because I have watched the Distance of Truth several times already! I've found myself really inspired by the music in the video. I did some research about the soundtrack and found the artist to be Willie Kuklis. He is from Vancouver, British Columbia, and his band is called Willie Kuklis and The Disappointments. I really wanted to get the song featured in the video--Sweet Rain. It is a relaxing, beautifully inspiring song that reminds me so much of our Badwater...
Since France, my running confidence hasn't been very high. I was training hard since, but couldn't get my World race out of my head. That's not a good feeling to have anytime much less when getting ready for such a hard race like Badwater. I didn't want to go into Badwater with this feeling of uncertainty. So on Saturday, I signed up to do the Rocky Mountain Double Marathon in Laramie, WY.I did this race back in 2008 and loved it. It is a hilly out and back on mostly dirt and gravel roads in...
What an unbelievable weekend with amazing people! Tony Portera and Brian Krogmann came to Colorado on Thursday for a long training weekend for Badwater. This will be Brian's first Badwater and Tony's second. Bob from Drymax even made the trip to see some of our training! The weekend was all about getting in good quality altitude miles with a bunch of fun too!
30 Days!
I got this email from Arthur Webb who has become a great friend through Badwater. Arthur has completed the race 11 official times! Did I mention he is 68 and going back again? Unbelievable! Anyway, he sends me emails every now and again to remind me the race is coming. Here is the most current one...Jamie:In case you have not been checking, there are only 31 days before we line up in the middle of the street, amongst a huge roaring overflow crowd of crew people and spectators (maybe 10,000...
I had the opportunity to do an interview with Bob MacGillvray from Drymax socks about ultrarunning and my Badwater experiences. Enjoy!
David and I had a wonderful long weekend in Las Vegas and the Mojave Desert! We got to Vegas early Saturday morning, so we headed straight to Red Rock Canyon. It is only 15 minutes from the strip and really easy to get to!
Behind the Scenes at Western States 2010
Being at the Western States 100 was awesome! The whole event is everything I thought it would be and more! Congratulations to all the runners, crew, and volunteers for an awesome race! Meredith ended up getting her goals--finishing her 1st Western States and running under 24 hours. It was such an honor to be a part of her journey! Here are just a few pictures from the weekend (more can be seen on FaceBook).
Badwater in Skirt Sports
I am so lucky to be outfitted in this year's Badwater by Skirt Sports. The company was founded in 2004 by triathlete Nicole DeBoom of Boulder, Colorado. She wanted workout wear to be cute yet functional so the...

Due to a new job and work commitments, we will be without WaterGirl on this Badwater journey. Connie is one of the best sister-in-laws there is and an amazing crew member! She is pictured above working...
