This run is part of the Oregon Trail Ultramarathon Race Series. The PCT 50 mile run is the second longest event in the trail series and as such, is a great chance to rack up points.

Me bad. I should have written this report when all the details were still fresh in my mind. It's only been two weeks and the edges are already losing their sharpness. Me and the Prez. I wore my Maniac shirt when I found out he'd be there. I forget how I heard about this new race, but when I found out, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. I like timed runs and I don't find running in loops
It's been nearly two years since I've run on Wildwood. For the past month I've been meaning to get out to Forest Park for a run, but for one reason or another it hasn't happened. A few times it was just too icy to safely drive over there. But today was finally the day! I still haven't regained my wake at 5am and out the door ways, so instead we enjoyed a leisurely morning. After a late
No resolutions from me. Hopes and dreams and goals? Absolutely! Running-wise, my hope is that 2010 will be a better year than 2009, or 2008 for that matter. 2007 was my best year ever as a runner. I ran my personal best in the marathon (4:16), which was faster than I ever dreamed possible when I first started running. I completed my first 50 mile race. I met a ton of runner friends and
Today marked the end of my first two weeks of marathon training. Only 16 more weeks to go! Next week my "long" run heads into double digit territory when I go for 10 miles. I'm looking forward to it!So happy to be training! But it's kind of weird being a newbie again but not really being a beginner. I need to turn my "running stuff" drawers upside down because I keep finding helpful gear in
Yesterday was my first double digit run of this training cycle - 10 miles! Marc had skiing on the schedule so I arranged to run with long time running buddy, Janet. We are pretty evenly matched at the moment, although my training has probably been a bit more consistent and my longest runs a bit longer. Marc has been singing the praises of run/walk and I've used that method too in the past
Marc and I have finalized our spring/summer/fall race itinerary and I just plain feel good about it. You know that feeling when you know something is right. I think the races compliment each other and work well with the rest of our schedules. The main additions to the schedule I've outlined in an earlier post are that Marc will get to run the Tacoma City Marathon too (Yay!), and has added the
I can't remember the last time I actually followed a training schedule. Perhaps it was for the North Olympic Discovery Marathon in June 2006, but I think it might have been as far back as the New York City Marathon in 2004. I'm certainly no expert, but I prefer doing my own thing. I know the basics, I know how to build mileage and I know what days I want to run. I'm sure I could benefit from
When running (and with most things, I suppose) I like to know where I'm going. Especially for long runs, I usually map out a general route or otherwise have a general plan. When Marc started running a few years ago, his method was to just head out the door and see where the run led him. At best he might think of a landmark and decide to run there and back. Early on, his favorite long run
If you live in the Pacific Northwest, you know that we've been having glorious sunny weather lately. Is it really still February? It certainly feels more like April or May. On Saturday, there was no doubt it was finally going to be a trail day. But instead of going to Forest Park, Marc and I decided to check out Powell Butte Nature Park. It's only a 15 minute drive from our house. For
I'm getting tired of training. Well, that's not entirely correct. I'm getting tired of just training. I'm not a competitive person (except perhaps with myself.) I don't enter races to compete with others. But I love to participate and experience the camaraderie of finishing an event. I think that's what I've missed the most.I'm itching to race again and May 2nd seems like such a long ways
